Dr. Sohaib Saeed is a specialist in Tafsir and Quranic Studies, based in Scotland. He earned a degree in this field from Al-Azhar University and went on to complete a PhD at the University of London under the supervision of Professor M.A.S. Abdel Haleem, the renowned translator of the Qur’an. He has taught and researched at several universities in the UK and Europe, and published in leading academic journals.
Shaykh Sohaib has become known for his translations of classical works of tafsir. The first volume of The Great Exegesis by Imam Razi was a recipient of the Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation in 2018. He is presently preparing a full translation of Imam Ibn Juzayy’s commentary for publication. The book based on his thesis, Explaining the Qur’an Through the Qur’an, is forthcoming from Edinburgh University Press.
Since 2016, Shaykh Sohaib has been head of research at Bayyinah Institute, where he is collaborating with Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan on a new Quran translation and commentaries that explain the depths of its language and meanings for a modern audience. In 2021, he joined QuranReflect.com with responsibility for Quality and Guidance. He is also the founder and director of the Ibn ‘Ashur Centre for Quranic Studies.
